After a few seconds the box talked to us. "What do you want."

Cool! Such technology. Jim and I were ecstatic.

I responded, "Sir I am your Grit newspaper carrier, would you like to buy one?"

"Didn't you see my no solicitors sign?" Growled the box, as I just figured out the definition of solicitors.

"Oh sorry sir!" I apologized. But we had done it. We had pushed the button.

"I want to push the button" Jim said.

"Push it then." I replied, and he did. Again the box spoke to us, "What do you want."

"Do you want me to come back next week?" I asked.

"NO!" The box said rather angrily.

I spent the rest of the day going to all the doors in the neighborhood. I would knock on the door and then politely ask, "Would you like a Grit?" To my pleasant surprise many people were previous readers of the Grit magazine so in that first afternoon I sold all of my 50 Grits.

It was a nice product. I even read the last one myself before selling it.

I sent in the money to Grit with my order form for 50 more newspapers. After the next shipment came in I returned to all the same houses to sell the newspapers again. Many were home but many were not, so I had to return several times to find them.

After some of the customers said they did not want it every week, I had to go knock on more doors to get rid of the extra newspapers. And again I walked by that button with the angry box attached.

Gosh, to live in a house with such space age technology must be wonderful. The house always had perfectly manicured bushes and lawns, sprinkled with bright flowers.

The lawn was elevated and you had to walk up 3 stone steps to get to the front door. And the screen door was perfect black metal.

I could not resist. I had to go push that button again. But of course I had to share it with my best friend. I ran to Jim's house and told him I was going to push the button again!
